  OSHA Recognizes CNP Method

OSHA's most recent 2005 update to the Respiratory Protection Standard greatly facilitated the use of controlled negative pressure.  The new standard allows for five  short tests rather than eight 1-minute tests using particle counters.  That's at least a 40% time savings over all other methods, even qualitative!  Not only is our fit testing method more reliable, but it saves you valuable time too.

EHS Innovators offers complete respiratory protection compliance, including both quantitative and qualitative respirator fit testing.  EHSI utilizes the OHD Fit Tester 3000 Quantitative Respiratory Fit Tester when performing on-site quantitative fit testing for its customers.  This computerized device represents the latest advance in fit testing technology.  It operates on the principle of "controlled negative pressure" (CNP) to directly measure respirator air leakage rather than the measurement of particles as an indirect measure of respirator fit (as does the TSI Portacount).  Because of its advanced technology, our fit tester is more reliable and faster than any other qualitative (e.g., smoke tubes and banana oil), and even other quantitative methods.  We can fit test more people in less time with better results.

Here's why we're better -

  • The Fit Tester 3000's accuracy is calibrated to a traceable NIST standard.  Competitive fit testing devices cannot measure up to the same level of accuracy, period.
  • Particle counters have inherent errors and biases related to inaccuracies in particle counting as an indirect means of measuring facepiece leakage. These biases make the results less reliable and not reproducible.  The test room environment is NEVER a factor with the Fit Tester 3000.
  • CNP technology uses direct air pressure measurement in the facepiece instead of particle migration to measure the mask for leaks.  This gives you a direct measurement of respirator leakage quickly and accurately regardless of conditions in the test location.  Sampling biases related to aerosol concentrations, such as lung deposition and streamlining, are completely irrelevant, giving a greater degree of confidence in the fit test results from EHSI.
  • Fit testing is done in the wearer's own mask rather than a sample mock-up worn by everyone else.  This eliminates hygiene concerns and ensures better acceptance by your workers.

At EHS Innovators, we sweat the details to provide the best and most cost-effective respirator fit testing services available.  Our experience and equipment allows us to do this better than our competitors.

Respirator fit testing services are provided primarily throughout the NJ, Philadelphia and New York City areas.
